Khao Suey Recipe, Today, after a long time I am finally having a planned dinner party with my friends. (around 8 people) Since it has been a while since we have had one of these I want to make a filling and hearty meal with a traditional twist. At first, I thought of just making some salad and sandwiches but I wanted to aim a little higher so instead I am making this ample meal. Kahu Suey is originally a burmese dish but with a few twists and turns it can be turned into a traditional yet modern thai dish. Ingredients for Khao Suey Recipe

  • 3 medium sized tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 small red chillies preferably thai
  • 4 – 5 black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp grounded cumin powder
  • Making the tomato puree requires no hard work at all. All you have to do is blend together everything liste☝️ Watch video for example?
  • Making the soup is also pretty easy but requires more ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped bottle gourd
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped radish
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp. garlic water optional
  • 2 tbsp. light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. dark soya sauce
  • 2 vegetable stock cubes
  • 1 liter water
  • 1/2 crushed galangal or ginger
  • 2 sticks lemon grass
  • 4 – 5 kaffir leaves
  • 2 tbsp. tamarind paste
  • 11/2 tsp. jaggery
