Onion Bites

Hey there, it’s heavily raining here in Hong Kong. It’s pouring like that it will never stop. But I love rain as it gets us rid of hot and humid weather. So, as usual, I was just chilling with my cup of tea sitting on the sofa, and chatting with my sister. While talking she just shared a very simple recipe for different versions of onion pakoda.

It’s a kind of pyaz ki pakodi simple version that too without too much oil. So tell me what will be more fun than having a cup of tea and besan ka pyaz ka pakoda?

Ingredients

1/2 cup besan
8-10 onion rings
1/4 cup chopped capsicum
1/4 cup of chopped tomatoes(optional)
½ tsp chopped green chilies
¼ tsp grated ginger
Water according to consistency
Oil for cooking

Spices
⅓ tsp red chili powder
A pinch of hing
⅓ tsp chaat masala
Salt to taste
A pinch of garam masala

Method

1 Take a bowl and mix all the ingredients except onion rings.
2 add water slowly and gradually ..we don’t want a very liquid consistency or very thick it should be medium. Make sure that there should not be any lumps in the batter.
3 Now take a pan put it on the stove on medium flame, and place onion rings separately on the pan.
4 Fill these rings with the besan batter till the rings get fully filled.
5 sprinkle some oil on the rings so that they don’t stick to the pan, cook them for a good 1-2 minutes, and then flip them to another side. The same process you have to follow for this side also.
6 Once you see that both the sides get well cooked and they become a little brown turn off the stove.
7 The onion rings are ready to be relished. Serve them with coriander chutney!
