Hey there, Janamashtami is round the corner so we will plan what we have to prepare for this auspicious day. The first thing that comes to mind is Sabudana pearls, we can also call them sago also. It’s a very popular dish in India which we make in our fastings and many times for our breakfast also. It’s a super quick, gluten-free, vegan, and super easy delicious recipe to make at home. There are many other recipes like thalipeeth, Sabudana vada which we can make with sabudana pearls.
Cooking sabudana khichdi doesn’t take a long time but the preparation is a little tricky.
How to Prepare sabudana pearls
The most important part of this dish is how to soak the pearls. Because if your procedure to soak the pearls is not correct then the sabudana will turn up in a sticky clump which will not be great for your taste bud.
Make sure to soak the sabudana in water for at least two hours. After soaking, drain out all the water and leave the sabudana in the strainer for another one hour. This step is most important to make non-sticky sabudana khichdi.
How to check your sabudana pearls are ready to cook just press them little by hand if they are pressed easily and become soft it means your sabudana is all set to cook.
Cook sabudana on medium flame, never cooks at high flame.
We have added peanuts to our khichdi. You can add cashew nuts also, it’s really your choice.
If you are fasting, use sendha salt, otherwise, you can use any cooking salt which you use.
