Schezwan Hot Barley Salad Recipe

Hey there, so finally we are writing our first recipe in our new website Two Friends Cooking…yay!! After months of hard work and lots of difficulties we achieve this , Before we thought that we will finish our this task as early as possible but it was not easy. To edit all the recipes once again, to decide how our website should look…oh god there was so much to think and so much to do. But all well that ends well.

Lets come to the recipe now, we want to start with some simple and healthy recipe so here we come with barley salad. Its a beautiful combination of Schezwan and pesto sauce. Schezwan give barley that spicy flavour which add the spiciness in barley and pesto give freshness to our salad.

Barley is rich in many beneficial . Barley helps to reduce heart disease risk. In this salad, we have taken our favorite vegetables like asparagus, bell peppers, if you change some of them according to your own taste you are totally free to do that. So let’s start with our salad.

Schezwan Hot Barley Salad

  • 1 cup boiled barley
  • 1 medium-size onion (finely sliced)
  • ½ cup finely sliced carrots
  • ½ cup finely sliced baby corn
  • ½ cup finely sliced asparagus
  • ½ cup finely sliced bell peppers
  • 1 /2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp pinenuts
  • ½ tbsp pesto sauce
  • ½ tbsp schezwan sauce
  • ½ tbsp mustard sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp grounded black pepper
  • 4 roman lettuce leaves
  • 1 tsp roasted pinenuts
  1. Take a medium pan and put on medium flame. Add cooking olive to it and make it warm.
  2. Now add sliced onion to it and cook for a minute to get a little pink. Put pinenuts and cook for a while. Add carrots, baby corn, and asparagus to it and stir the vegetables with a spoon and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame.
  3. Now add schezwan sauce, pesto sauce, mustard sauce, salt, and pepper to it and mix them with a spoon. Add bell pepper to the hot salad and cook for only one minute, as the texture of calcium should be crispy.
  4. Place your roman lettuce leaves on a salad bowl and put hot salad on it. Sprinkle little roasted pinenuts from the top.
